40 Bible Verses on Seeking God

seeking god

Recently, I have been talking with a very dear friend about God and our responsibility as believers. She finished an account of her own personal spiritual journey with the following:

I believe you will get SOME of the answers you seek to your questions as you continue to seek God’s council through prayer.

Will you get all your answers?  I don’t think so.  If we are all knowing, where does that put God?

I’m not even a good facebooker so I presented this to you via email vs posting on your blog as I do not have the research to support.

Without my faith, I would be wandering aimlessly always searching.

I do not want to live like that again.

Tried it for 30 years, it didn’t work.

Her final comment gave me pause. I agree we can find peace in God. Absolutely. But I don’t believe we should stop seeking to close the gap between us and our Creator (and there is definitely a gap; more like a canyon.)

So, I turned to the Bible to see what it held. I find 40 entries in the form of examples and directives to seek the Lord.

I now feel I can rest into my restlessness.

Matt

Acts 17:27
that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
